Hello,
My 18-year-old nephew had a bad 4-wheeler accident almost 3 weeks ago. He had to have his leg amputated above the knee. His Dr. is also Dr. Ertl. I was just wondering if this is the same Dr. you are referring to, he is located at Oklahoma City University hospital.
The first surgery they went above the ankle, they then had to go back and go above the knee. He got to come home for 4 days and his leg started bleeding pretty bad so we had to take him back for a visit. The ended up putting him back in the hospital and doing another surgery. Today we learned that they are going to have to go back and do yet another surgery to take a bit more of his leg, not sure how much yet.
Has anyone else experienced this? I would appreciate anyone giving me some advice on how to comfort my nephew, talk to him or just anything. This is one of the hardest things I have had to go through in my life. I was the first to ever hold the little fellow when he was born and I just cant bare to see him suffer. He is no different on the outside to me, it is the inside that is different and I want my nephew back to his old self as much as possible.
Thanks in advance.
Kim
