Subject: Dad's latest test results

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to share some news with you. Most of you know that Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer back in October. My parents decided, with guidance from the Lord, ot avoid the chemo/radiation route. It may be for other people, but it's not for us right now. Anyway, Dad has been doing really well. He hasn't been sick, because, usually it's the chemo and radiation that make people sick. Both parents went in for some blood tests on Monday of this past week. It was a torturous week as we waited for the results for Dad. We were all on edge, not knowing what the tests would say about what is going on in his body.

One of the tests he had was called a tumor marker blood test. It gives a level of tumor activity in the body. Back in October, just before Dad's major surgery, his level was 27.5. Normal is anywhere betwee 0 and 5. So, back then it was very very elevated. Even after surgery, they wait awhile to do the test again because the body has to realize that the tumor is gone.

We got a call on Thursday from a Dr. He said that he had been looking over all of the blood work, but was most interested in the tumor marker test of Dad's.

4.2

0-5 is NORMAL and Dad's level is 4.2!!!!!!!!!!!!! Praise the LORD!

That doesn't mean that Dad is cancer free. He's not "out of the woods" so to speak. But, this test result is a very strong indication that Dad's body is doing GOOD things!

For those of you who have been praying.... asante sana!
~ Rebekah
