go for it buddy. If your woman is going to buy a bug then you do really need to get as much info as poss about wot 2 look for etc, they are very old cars and prone to major rust, as we all know. Just because a car has an MOT doesnt mean it has no rust. You really do get wot you pay for in this day and age unless you are really lucky.

My advise is to spend as much as you can afford and get the most original unmolestered car you can for your money. they really do make great daily drivers if they are looked after properly, i have driven mine everyday for 6 years now and its never skipped a beat

Pop down the club and have a chat there are loads of us experienced enough to talk you through what to look for and its always handy to know people in the scene to discuss problems, get parts, follow to shows and generally have extreme fun.
