A 2.4 engine is likely to be a Type 4 lump, and already modified as they didn't come in that size. If it is a type 4 engine it will fit with a few simple changes (flywheel, conversion to upright tinwear & stuff like that)- as for the value, that really depends on whether its got all the approprite tinwear to fit in a bug, carbs and other anciliaries. These can be very expensive.
Also, check with your insurance company as a young lad like yourself with a 2.4 litre bug sounds extremely expensive!
Do you have full details of the engine that you can post up?
