Yes, I remember. Me and Cpl. Bud Ekert were the last two to cross the rice paddy to the rest of the company (Lima) 1st. Plt. I got hit in the leg and we fought all day and night. some Ontos and tanks came up. the Ontos got hit and stuck, I took an M-3 45 cal. from a dead Marine after my M-16 stopped working. I recovered the bodies of Lt. Smith 2nd. Plt. and Pfc. Zincowich(sp) the 1st. squad M-79 man. Me and L/cpl Paul Randazzo, (he was hit in the head) along with the rest of the squad led by Cpl. Jim Snyder fought on through the day and into the night clearing the area in the following AM when The wounded including myself were medivacted to the USS Valley Forge. Sorry I don't recall a lot of help there, sure seemed lonley on the ground. Semper Fi, MSgt. S.L. Doughty
