We established unanimously, on another thread, that DHK's movie, LABOR OF LOVE, had no significant ending.

So how does the story continue...

I would have liked to know who the real father was and if it was a boy or a girl.
If Danny...forgot his character name, was the father, if she married him.
If the other guy was the father, would Danny...oh yeah, Gordon still see her?

I was really disappointed in the ending. Maybe the financial backers ran out of money and had to cut the movie short. tee hee hee

Sometimes when I see an ending like this I have only two thoughts; one being that there will be a sequal - but it was not enough of a movie to merit a sequal... and two that the writer just did not know how to end it... it was basically a non-ending if you ask me. When this type of ending occurs, I am usually left wondering why I sat through the story! :(

Now before you all go biting my head off, I know that I watched it because of DHK!!!!!

Oh, what a funny movie, and romantic....
I don't like the idea that people have a child because they want a baby.
As far as the plot goes, she was a hopeless romantic (like me) in many ways...where there's a nice looking guy..I'm there. Thank you God for making man! hahaha
Gordon O'Connell was a news guy and had a job that took him all over the world, right? Where ever the news was, he was there. She loved him, but it wasn't clear of his girlfriend in the previous location. Was that love affair finished? What was his feelings for the old girlfriend? If that relationship was done, then this new relationship could work.

The ending reminds me of the cliffhanger endings we are seeing on TV shows like West Wing, ER and Everwood. They build you up with excitement and suspense and then don't tell you what happens. You have to wait until next season.

Alls I know is that Mike got to listen to me rant and rave about the ending for over 20 minutes and then every now and then for the next few days!
Not to mention the time I spent looking around on the menu guide for a part two!!!

I rate this the worst ending movie I ever encountered...but...with the hottest guy in it!!!!!!

Well I see we are mostly in agreemment here.

Pl, I am a hopeless romantic too. (tee hee hee) My husband loves it!

Hottie, I ranted about the ending also. My husband did not love that. LOL

I think that the writers were clearly indicating that she became her own person, stood on her own two feet and decided NOT to give in to her girlish knight-in-shining-armor fantasies about her wild irish rogue and left it sort of open as to whether or not she stayed with her gay friend as father to her child.

Actually, I think that both of these people had some serius growing up to do. I mean to say that she was sleeping with two men while purposely trying to conceive a child and he was having an affair with her while clearly cheating on his girlfriend who he did keep on hold over in whereveritwas; it was not yet over with her nor did he seem to have intentions to end it. Then when he returned to (NY), even though he knew she was pregnant and the child could be his, he did not even extend the courtesy to phone her up.

Did they ever establish paternity? Or are we left guessing on that as well?

I am with you guys. What a stupid ending. There was no ending. And what was up with Gordon anyway? First he was there, then he wasn't, then he was. OMG, make a decision. First he wanted her, then he didn't, then he did? Did he? It seems to me that if you really love somebody, then you are crazy about them and you can't get enough of them, at least, that is how I have felt about men I have fallen in love with (but of course, they didn't know I was alive). But then again, I just don't trust those foreign guys. Seems that all they want from American women is passage to America (this is based on foreign men I have known). They seem kind of flighty, not centered like American men.

American men are centered? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A lot of men think with their little mascot and this movie was a perfect example of that....also an example of how men always want you most when you don't want them anymore!

I know that Danny isn't this way...he has been with the same woman forever and very protective and devoted to his family.

Why can't all men be like him?
They can all look like him to and it wouldn't bother me a bit! heeheehee

I sure do live in fantasy land. LOL

Speaking of foreign men, I ended up marrying one. Biggest mistake of my life. The only good that came out of it was my son.
