I hope someone can help me with this. On occasion, at 4 am at all times, I get someone touching me and hear garbled words next to my ear that I cannot understand. This absolutely petrifies me and I start a prayer like a mantra, over and over again so that it goes away. Please believe me when I say that I am awake, wide awake and notice that no one is actually there. The only time this has not occured to me was when I was living with my boyfriend so its been about 5 years since last this happened. Can anyone shed light on this phenomenon? I know I should try to speak to it, but I get so petrified and frightened I just curl up in a foetal position till it goes away.

Hi,am hoping you could pls help me. We haved lived in our house for the past yr and things happen that i cant explain. When we first moved in i was putting some stuff away in the kitchen and saw a flash of a boy run past me,he had blonde hair and looked about 4-5,i thought it was my youngest son running outside but when i went to check there was no one there and my son was playing upstairs. the doors open and close for no reason,lightbulbs keep 'popping' in the lamps upstairs and i sometimes get a really strong smell of heavy perfume. My 4 yr old son is terrified of going upstairs on his own and says that a man keeps talking to him,(although that has stopped now) and then i was taking some photographs of our new puppy last wk and there was an orb that moved from the right to the left of the room and also one on the sofa,there is a bookcase behind on which my babies ashes and photo's of my nan and grandad...i dont mind sharing my house but my boys sometimes get scared and i would just like some advice as to how to handle this and how to find out who it is....thankyou

I have recently moved to a new house and since i have been there ( 4 months ) my little girl who is 3 keeps on talking to people i cant see and saying she sees "the professor" on a few occasions she has been hysterical not wanting me to enter certain rooms in my house and telling me not to look at "them" she does this in a couple of my friends houses one of which has been where my friends grandad died . I dont know what to make of it and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me .

Alot of strange things have been happening to my daughters and myself. My daughter Jenny had a dream a couple of nights ago about looking for her dad (he passed away 2 yrs ago) When she awoke, she looked at her cell phone and the date was Feb. 26, 2006. Then a picture of me and her dad appeared on the screen.
Last night when I went to bed, I could smell sulphur. It was like someone burning matches. It lingered in the room about 1/2 hr. I then felt something like a feather, going down the front of my leg. Then I heard a dog eating a bone at the foot of my bed. (My dog died last year, I have no animals).
This morning I was chatting with my other daughter. She said that my husbands stereo came on by itself, playing the song: "Love Somebody Like You", and the time was 9:18 A.M. (which is my birthday). Next: she could smell a vanilla candle burning (she doesn't have vanilla candles), the time was 9:50 A.M. Last: she could smell bacon cooking (she wasn't cooking), the time was 9:55 A.M. (I was born Sept. 1955)
Does anyone know what any of this means? Our family is used to things like this, but this one has us stumped. I am hoping someone can help us.

The Stealthy Ghost; On New Years Eve 2006, both myself and my Girlfriend were walking between 'Scott St' and 'Betton St' towards my Mothers house in 'Belle Vue' Shrewsbury at approximately 1:30 a.m. after attending a quiet New Years Eve party.
We were happily chatting as we always do, when a misty black orby thing appeared infront of us. It was about 15 feet away as we approached a small social club on our right-hand side. In the distance, on the railway bridge adjacent to 'Sutton Lane' appeared a well dressed chap with a blonde pony tail and a 'van helsing' style jacket.
He stared at us coldly. I ran towards him, but when I closed in on him, he turned towards 'Sutton Lane' and flicked his cloak/jacket as if to conceal his identity and dissappeared! I said nothing to my Girlfriend until after my pursuit, thinking I must be a wee bit sozzled and I was just seeing weird stuff. I asked her "did you just see that guy?", and she nodded in fright. Needless to say, we ran the rest of the way back to my Mothers house.
I can still remember what this guy looked like, as it wasnt a 'typical' ghost. This guy came in full technicolour.

I think that my house is haunted.
Both myself and my partner have experienced strange behaviour in the house as follows:
1. Objects moving from room to room when no one is present.
2. Lights being switched on and off.
3. Experiences of voices being heard by both of us in different rooms in the house.
I've checked the background of the property - it's built in 1904 - and there's nothing recorded as to if anyone has died in the house, however there is evidence of an old air raid shelter in the garden.
The event that I cannot explain involves coming home late at night and finding an electric fan heater plugged in and operating in the living room. However the plug was switched to off and the fan heater had been left upstairs in the morning before we left the house. The burglar alarm had not been activated - which movement in the living room would do, so I'm at a loss to explain how this happened.
The presence in the house is friendly enough - it's not oppressive or anything like that - so I'm not sure if there's any need to "do" anything about it.
Anyone's thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

As I included in the name portion of this post, lately I have had an interest to learn a little about my family that came from England and I always knew that there was a Pomeroy castle, since my grandfather has a picture of the castle in his office. But I have always been interested in actually accounts of people who have been to this supposively haunted castle. If you could please send info. Also I am a little interested to know some of the stories behind the castle. Also, I would like to know if there are any accounts of people from the Pomeroy family that are associated with the castle, and hauntings.

In December 2005, I attended my sister-in-laws wedding at Borthwick Castle. I am from the US, so this was an amazing trip for all of us. I have always been interested in the paranormal, but I am far from an expert, and have never personally experienced anything like the pictures that I took there. I took over 100 pictures while there, and while taking pictures on the day of the wedding (Kodak digital camera), I noticed what appeared to be ghosts and orbs in the pictures. When I printed out the pictures, I could not believe what I saw. They only appeared in pix taken on the wedding day, and all but one were in 2 rooms. In the state room which contained Mary Queen of Scots chapel, there is a face of a female in the picture. The face is between the groom and myself. There is also a kinda scary male face in the picture. He has what appears to be a mustache and beard, and she has red lips and a rather long nose. There is also a rather large orb in this picture. Evidentally, Mary Queen of Scots spent a lot of time in this room and had a corridor connecting her bedchamber to this chapel. The second picture was taken in the Garrison room. This room was used by Borthwick's soldiers, and it is also where the actual wedding took place. In the photo, you can see a male and female standing together. The female has sharp features, and has her hands clasped in front of her. You can see the neckline of her dress, and it looks like she has a hat on. I get the impression that she was dressed up. Again, I see the red lips and sharp features. The male is standing with her kind of behind her. He is not quite as clear as the female, but it looks like he has facial hair and a hat on. The other figure in the picture is of a male in a black hat. It looks like a top hat to me. He is pretty easy to see down to the lapels of his suit. He may be holding something? In the third picture taken in the great hall, there is an obvious hand on the arm of a couch. It is missing the middle finger, I think, and there was noone sitting there. I know this because we were taking the wedding photos and moved everyone out of the way. Noone with us was missing a finger either. This picture is different though because it looks like a real hand where the others are -i guess transparent would be the word? I really am not experienced in these things, and would love someone to take a look at them. Can I post them on this site, or is there some other way I could get them out there? I am not very computer literate either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do not know if there could be some logical explaination for it, but I do not see how. We also had things moved around in our room several times. My daughters watch ended up in a drawer that we were not even using, and my book that was in the bag in the plane was under the middle of the bed. I had never even taken it out of my carry on bag. My husband the sceptic is now a believer.

hi i hope you can help. i have a video of my sons birthday who was six at the time. the video has been watched a good few times but 5 years on after the recording a head has appeared in the corner of the kitchen where the filming was taking place at the time. it is protruding somewhat out of the wall as there was a hanging plant there at the time and it has overtaken that. it looks to be male because of the balding hair has only eye sockets but still has flesh on its nose mouth and chin. it is also a greeny brown colour so very different to the usual white mists and orbs. i have replayed the tape so many times and it is still there but now has another face underneath it.. i was shocked to find it at first and did try to seek some explanation but havent got one yet..i am hoping you would be able to help. thanks

i am part of a car club in my area of bridlington, we offten to go to a place called dane dyke! we have a picture of one of our lads holding a statue of a women and around the two is i belive to be a ghost,please e-mail me if you wish to see this picture (houlihan87@hotmail.com) after the picture was taken the lad the same nightmare about that place 3 nights in a row, he said he was in a mansion and heard a sceaming which ended up him running out, he would the awake. i know that there once was a mansion up there in the 1500s which burnt down, i am not sure if the two are linked. the statue faces out to sea (it is on a cliff top) my belive is the ghost is of a women widowed by the sea and she has used this staute to keep looking for her husband, and was not to happy with my friend! we have been back to the staute a few times now over the last year and we all get really scared,we have all sensed some thing watching us and erging us to leave, just last night i felt like i was being pushed all the way back to my car,(about 1/4mile-1/2mile away) one of our lasses said the women was escorting me out to keep me safe from some thing, so if any body has any ideas/infomation about danes dyke and its potienal sprits i would be very greatfull for them please e-mail houlihan87@hotmail.com thank you very much for reading i look forward to hearing from people. lea brid-cruise staff

we need some one who can communicate with the spirits our offices are in a 16th century jacobine farm house my self and another work mates have seen a few ghosts some of them are such evil spirits they throw stuff at you such as small stones i my self have how ever encountered a relly nice spirit of a woman who is starting to worry me now she is starting to stroke my neck and face and play with my hair we have also hade a case of an employee getting followed home by a ghost and causing problems for him. we are gona embark on a proper ghost hunt but need some one who can communicate with the ghosts to protect us and keep control of the going ons during our vigal the whole site has a wealth of history from stone age to roman millitery camp then a jacobine farm house where murder rape beatings have all taking place also more sadley in the 18th century a lot of children died in the house they were not killed but died of natuaral causes the farm house had an exersisom in 1973 but the spirits still remain can some one tell me is it possible for them to return after an exersisom we need help on this can some one please help us as we are so fed up been scared and after all we are all macho men lol who work here and is no good for the image lol just kidding we are scared please some one help us

Hi when using my mobile phone to take pictures it goes all blurry and you can see strange things in the pictures like people who are not alive GHOSTS. I feel like I'm being watched all the time. I see floating clouds and symbols of half moon and doors. The other night in the dark my room went white it was like it went all smokey white-grey colour it was really strange. I also hear noises such like buzzing noises and things moving like something lift and dropped my hairbrush and the boxes against the wall keep moving.

3 weeks ago I saw a ghost in my bathroom standing in the bath. He was only a teenage boy aged round about 13-15 years old. He was wearing a dark blue polo shirt with like a symbol on it like shaped like a bird it may of looked like a seagull to me. He was wearing dark blue trackie pants. He had brown hair, pale and quite tall. Ever since that just got to me so bad that I couldn't walk round my house alone but now I'm ok and not scared because they can't hurt you.

About a 2 months back i was in my garden with my man nate having a fire to get rid of some rubbish.....as he was fueling nthe fire I was recording him.. a big blue orb came out of the fire floated around him then came str8 @ me ..... when u pause the video on 42 seconds u can see a sinister face ..... plus the strangest thing is that when the orb came at me it stopped the video but you could still hear me say wow that was freaky .........

We have a fishy smell that randomly occurs in my daughters bedroom. When we moved into the house 3 years ago, my eldest daughter (then 8 years)used the room and we never had a problem. But a year later the girls swapped bedrooms and my younger daughter (then 5 years) moved in. Since then we get this fishy smell that usually starts late afternoon and by late evening is so bad that you can't go into the room. It occurs any time of the year and generally only lasts for the day. My daughter doesn't like sleeping in the room anymore, as she says she is afraid, but does not know why. Please can someone help???

Hi! I came across your question while also researching on how to get rid of a doppelganger. I already know of the concept long before I came across the word because we also have that phenomenon in the region of the philippines where i came from. My father also experienced having it, as well as some of my friends. However, i did not believe it before i actually experienced having it myself. It was in a fortnight that a doppel of me appeared twice. The first time, i was pacing about or back and forth and seemingly meditating. On the 2nd occasion, i was sitting on the floor, with my head bowed and in a zen style. On both occasions, i was wearing black and the same person saw me.
I texted my friend who knows how to fight this phenomenon. He told me to wear red articles of clothing. Also, you must tell whoever it is that saw you to tap your shoulders when she would see after she saw your doppel...

Came across this site by via query! I have had some paranormal activity in my home here in GA since April. I have had a man whisper my name in my ear twice, heard what sounded like my son (he is 8) talking to me twice and turns out he wasn't even in the room! I did not understand what the child was saying, found scribbles on my son's wall in his room, on our sofa all in either a red pen or a black one (which by the way were both thrown out by me!) my husband has also heard a woman whisper his name and he has heard a conversation in our sitting room between a man and woman, he also heard what he thought was our son (at first) in the bedroom wall! He did not understand what the child was saying either. I have had my cell phone taken twice then returned, my son's toys go missing then later found in some odd place. Mostly I feel things and hear them. Knockings on the wall, rapping. I feel it when its near me. I believe there are 3 of them, a man, woman and a young child, perhaps a boy around 4 or 5. I heard the man whispering my name, I heard the boy talk to me, seen his scribbles on my walls and sofa and I smelled the woman's perfume and I felt her cold hand on my arm one night while I was 1/2 asleep!
Kind of freaky, huh? Scared me at first, now I am okay about it. Not 100% but I am better! Trying to live with all of this!

Hi there, we moved into this house 5 months ago and at first everything was alright, then going into our bedroom there would be this very strong smell of fish.
We had bought new bed clothes and thinking that was the case we reverted back to other bedding.
No, this did not help, we are aware of something in the house because we had some kind of feeling in our last houses there was something with us, different things would happen here and there and being touched.
But here, this smell is really powerful and it only happens in our bedroom, I know there is something and although I was never afraid I am starting to be on my own.

Crowley Hall was built in the late 19th century and later re-opened as 'The Crowley Home for the Criminally Insane' under Dr. Bernard Leys supervision. It was closed after his death and opened again in 1970 as a Children's Hospital. Eventually it was closed in 1997 and has been derelict until recent renovations. During it's life, the hall has had a number of paranormal incidents suggesting the prescence of ghosts. I have had recurring dreams for the last 50 years, since I was a child, of a child during the Second World War being taken to see her parents who are in hiding and find that they are gone. A man drives me, but I don't see his face in my dream, and when we find that everyone who was in hiding there is gone, he and I begin to cry and can't stop. I wake up and I am still crying from the dream and feel absolutely desolate. My brother thinks that it may be the ghost of one of our relatives who was lost as a child during the Holocaust, as I, myself, riding in the car to visit them am about two years old. Help !! It's been going on too long. 50 years, at least 4 times a year.

I have been employed with the same company for just over 3 years, in the past I have overheard stories from sightings in a storage area to sales girls computers turning themselves on.
More recently several people have had experiences which I would like to share with you.
It started about 6 months ago when a team leader was working late and as he left the building he heard footsteps following him along the roof of the warehouse, Also a woman had her bum pinched whilst packing a order, she swung round ready to clobber the culprit but no one was there.
I had my first experience with this about 1 month ago, I was setting the alarm and checking the fire doors were locked, when I turned round I see a shape of a man move in the corner of my eye. He moved off round the corner and I gave chase but when I got round the corner there was no-one there and nowhere they could have hid. About 2 weeks ago I was getting some stock from the same area and I heard someone calling my name and footsteps on the ceiling, I thought it may be work freinds winding me up so I said nothing.
Since then there have been at least ten different people claiming they have heard voices,seen a man in the storage warehouse and even footsteps entering the toilet whilst they were washing their hands next to the doorway.
I am very interested to find out who this is but don't have a clue where to start, if anyone knows of any websites I could research this from it would be most appreciated.

I am very interested in ghosts whether they exist or not - I have had a couple of what I believe were paranormal experiences but am not too sure - I think I may be a bit of a skeptic. ok...at my house my radio is in the living room on top of my entertainment center. I just moved here about a mounth ago with my step sister. Before she has had no problems. This started about out slow and now it does this every night..My radio turns on!! ME, my step sister and my brother are the only ones who witnessed this. In a flat i used to live in, i was convinced there was a ghost. one particular room gave me a strange feeling and we once heard somebody shout my name from that room, even though it was empty. i have since moved and researched the old flat and it used to be next door to a local jail (in the early 1900's). I have been seeing many orbes on recent pictures in our new home. I don't know much about them and need some info. The orbes are on some of the pictures during day and night, with or without lights on. I took pictures outside of home and others homes, but orbes only show up at my home or if I am close to the person I take picture of, also if I go quickly into a room at home and take pic. there are no orbes, if I stand in room for a while then take pic. the orbes are there. In most instances there are two orbes one large one small they are not in the same places though, they move around. My camera is just fine and I have had a camera expert look at it, she claims it to be in good working order. It is a digital camera. There are no other hauntings in home and I have no fear here. Last home we lived in was haunted and when we moved out it burnt to the ground, with no expainable reason. Need some info. fom annie in Michigan

I've just been to visit Bodmin jail and had a bad time on the middle floor corridor. As I walked on to that floor I felt pressure on my shoulders and neck that increased with the time that I was there. I went in to the rooms off the corridor and the feeling eased. When I went back in, it came back the same as before. slowly at first, then getting worse. It felt like a man of medium build and he was begging repeatedly for my help. I felt he could not leave the corridor but he know that I could hear him so he stayed with me. When the presure was bad I was looking round to see him as I knew he was there. I've had experience with ghosts before and just want to know if any one else has seen him or knows anything else about him.

Hi;
I just moved into a flat and it is haunted. My wife had moved in first, as I was working overseas. Anyhow, she told me there was a ghost here and to be honest, I didn't believe her. Well, now I do.
It started by just coming in and watching me from the hallway - although that freaked me out quite a bit, it wasn't that big of a deal. The problem is - it is getting more and more "bold" with every passing day. I really didn't mind it in the hallway - I just turned on the lights if I had to go to the kitchen or loo, and it walked back out to the hallway. Not a problem.
Well, for the past week it has taken to walking up behind me when I am on the computer and just standing there - that really bothers me a lot. Additionally, it has started moving dishes and I actually heard it giggle while my wife and I was watching a movie. But, the worst is last night. It touched me. It kept waking me up all last night.
The first time, I woke up - my heart was racing and thought my wife had touched me - she had not. And, twice more I was woken up. I'm not sure if it touched me then, but I know the first time was a touch.
I really do not think it is a "evil" or bad ghost, it just scares me because I don't know what it is. And with last nights waking me up - and the increase in activity, I really don't want to see what will happen next. And, I really did think it might have just been my imagination until last night - something kept waking me up and it wasn't my wife or me - the only two living things in the room besides our plants. So, I am wondering what to do.
I actually finally admitted to my wife that I think there's a ghost here, and she thinks it's "neat". I do too, in a way - but not when I'm up alone and it's here in the room with me. I have to admit that not much scares me, but this does. There, I said it.
Anyhow, I am writing to ask if anyone has any advise about getting rid of the ghost. I would try an exorcism, but it doesn't actually live here. It comes in from the hallway about every morning at about 2 or three, I believe from another apartment, and I absolutely will not ask my neighbor if he minds me having the priest exocise his house. And, even if I did, I'm not sure it is coming from there - I just know it comes from the hallway - there are a lot of flats here.
My next problem is this - the giggle I heard sounded like a little girl - we were in the living room and it was in our bedroom. I saw the shadow of a man, and my wife said she saw an old woman. I really don't know what to think of that. I know the man seems to follow me around, but this morning it I thought i saw the little girl in the hall when I woke up. I really hope this makes sense to someone, because i am at a loss. Can there be more than one ghost here?
The flat was built in the 1850s, and is quite nice. Moving is not an option. Anyhow, any ideas to deal with this would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me directly. Thank you very much.
By the way - I read the post about ghosts being in my head, and all I can say is - spend a few nights here - you'll know it isn't in your head!

Hi folks i work as a security guard on nights in north London.My office which is an hq for a leading baby bottle manufacturer has a number of ghosts at least 8 at the last count i know their are 8 as one of my security managers visited the premises in the early hours of the morning and he is well in to ghost hunting and can connect with the spirit world.On asking for some reply like hello a voice was heard coming from the first floor.Also the premises was hit by a v-1 flying bomb and at least 3 men died in the blast.Also at the rear of the ground floor voices can oftern be heard like people talking or wispering.On one occasion about two christmas ago one of the ghosts showed up whilst i was watching a film on v-1 flying bombs and my partner saids it was a warning,the figure was dressed all in black wearing 1940 s clothes.Some times i go upstairs to sit down and the ghosts get active by banging pipes and playing with my lift etc also lights go up and down in brightness and some doors bang.I enjoy my hauntings as no two days are the same but you can feel a sad feeling if you stay on the ground floor for long periods of time.
This is a true and very active building haunting of which i am glad to share with every one thank you.

whilst workin in a resi home on nights i heard footsteps walkin in front of me, and have heard children laughin.i have smelt cigar smoke, perfume in various parts of the home.in one particular room which is scary, we had a new resi,one mornin i went in2 her and she was upset by the man who she said was tauntin her,i sat with her and then i could smell burning,i shouted the other member of staff in2 us and she asked me what was on fire, my reply was nothing! when that room is occupied the resi turns violent,quite often the atmosphere is ominous. other members hav reported hearin a male voice shouting help me, there is no xplanation for this as there was no staff or residents in the area at the time.there has been a woman who has been seen walkin up the stairs she wears 16th century clothing.one member of staff was strangled she put her arm up and felt tight curly hair,when she turned around,there was nobody there!when talking to residents u are sometimes answered by a loud YES which is definatly not a resi answering! could go on 4eva but fingers are achin!!!! seeya!!!

I have told this story to my friends and family only but I would like to share it with others who are interested in the subject of ghosts. I was in the Savoy theatre in London watching Richard III. My wife was ill and could not make it so rather than waste two tickets I went myself. This meant that the seat on my left was empty. About 15 mins into the first act I noticed a hand, holding what appeared to be a ticket between index finger and thumb. This hand was extending from the empty seat and seemed to be showing me the ticket. I immeadiatly looked to my left and saw a woman sitting in the empty seat. her dress had a high frilled collar and her hair was tied up at the back and over her ears, the hairstyle was high on her forehead. As I looked at this woman who was very solid I noticed a mark on her cheek. When I looked on this mark I realised it was the ear of the person sitting in the next seat from her. When I focused on this the lady beside me vanished. I didn't know wheather or not to tell the theatre and see if anyone else had seen such an apparition

hey,
my cousin and her friend took me and a few friends to sum old burned down house in epson and told us that it used to be a mental hospital. me and one of the other guys went up to it whilst the other 3 stayed in the car. we walked up the dark path and arrived to a gate where we waited. we then heard something and ran away. we returned again this time with a night vision camera. we again was waiting at the gate and i heard the noise of breaking glass. we waited then heard the voice of a woman.
a week later sunday 8th may 2005 we decided to return but with more people. this time me and the same person as before went during the afternoon while it was still light. no noise or problems that we was aware of. so we met the others down epson downs and returned later that night this time armed with nightvision cameras, torches and digicams. (we had to check in the day because if anything happened to my mates i would know it was partly my fault.)
We was walking aroun the house and taking photographs and we all had this feeling we was being watched. but nobody was visible in the upstairs windows of the house i am sure i saw things moving. but cannot confirm that. wen we returned, we looked at the pictures i used photoshop to adjust the brightness and contrast and a face is visible in the window, would sumbody have a look at the images i have and tell me if this is a possible ghost?

hi there,
nothing like this has ever happened to me before. A few year ago in the flat i still live in today, i was sitting on the sofa in the evening when i suddenly felt like someone had put a hand either side of my head and ran there hands upwords through my hair. I stood up very quickly with heart pumping expecting to find my daughter standing there, but there was nothing there. I have heard breathing in my ear whilst in bed, felt the bed shudder. My daughter has always said she feels someone is watching her in the bathroom i've never felt it though. But a few weeks ago my little nephew aged 3 went into the bathroom with his gran and kept saying there was a bad man in the room. But nothing has happened in a while. Apart from at my livingroom door i always feel someone is standing there watching us and my daughter always feels the same way. Could my flat have something in it? And could it just stop all of a sudden?

couple of weeks me n my sis swapped beds (we stil share a room) she was fast asleep so i turned over n gfaced the wall..next i thought i could actually feel her gettin into bed with me so i turned round to tell her she couldnt sleep with me but she wasnt there..the bed actually had a dint in the matress as if there was actually summit on it..my sis was still asleep in her be the matress didnt cum bk up..the same thing happened when i slept at my grandmas..she usually jumped in bed with me to keep me company n i thought she was gettin in bed with me n i turned round she wasnt there..i was only about 8 so u can imagine how scared i was..has ne1 had any simialar experiences?? please reply xxxxx

my friend moved into her home about three months ago, after about aweek her three year old son then mentioned a man who spoke to him thru the night, this obviously put the creeps up them a bit. a while after they noticed things disapearing then showing up in places they new they did'nt put them. about two weeks ago my freind was walking up her stairs , she had to turn the light out at the bottom of the stairs because the switch at the top was broken, her husband was in bed but with his lght on and the door was open so there was a bit light, when she was about half way up she heard someone run up the stairs behind her,she obviously screamed, her husband came out of the bed room but there was no-one there. this put the shits up her so much she demanded they leave the house that night. she has since been down to her local church to see if they can help. ihave been in the house and it feel very creepy. do you's think they should have the house exercised or do a seance (thats shit spelling , i know) to find out who the ghost is , ive tried to tell them to do the latter but there having none of it. if any one has any usefull information please let me know. cheers, andy

Hi, i moved to Scotland last year in march and have been living with a relitave in Millport. Over the past few months i get the strongest feeling that there is something over my left shoulder. Its like just before someone touches you and you know there there, but of course theres noone there. It only seems to happen in my bedroom and only when the door is shut. This never happens when my relitave is awake or when anyone else is in the house. I get goosebumps constantly down my left arm too. At first i thought it was just me being funny, but now im almost certain that there is something there. It feels like im being watched and that i need to look around behind me. Does anybody know of a similar occurence?Does anybody have any ideas of what i should do?

My friend an I had a strange experience.I was house sitting for my Mum in Epsom and We had beenup late coming back from a party, we were just sitting and chatting.The dawn was breaking so I said let's open the curtains it was barely light,but at my parent's driveway was an old hearse and a man with a top hat with that silk black scarf around it!We were both terrfied and shut the curtains but I thought we should look outside again and we did, the man was still there!! nevertheless we just went to bed thinking we had had too much to drink etc but how could we have both seen the same thing? And also the hearse and the man were very old fashionned! My guess would be about 1920's style.My friend and I have never been able to explain it!! Any suggestions?

i visited Belaugh in norfolk after reading aboutthis haunting. Alys comes down from the church every year in August to see her beloved's funeral possession pass by. st olaf is her love and she calls out twice, her voice is low and slow and it sent chills down my spine (well i nearly fell in the river with fright to be exact), you hear her clearly come down in the trees and u see a star twinkling in and out, the experience starts with a flash at the top of the church tower and ends with this as well. Totally amazing to witness as she does materialise as a green glow about five foot five, after he comes past as the sky light changes, she calls then returns to her vault hidden in the church. The village is tiny and remote and when they turn their lights out its very dark and isolated took me alot of nerve to stand there. i have experienced alot of ghostly activity but this really was something else.

When i was a young boy i used to sleep in the same bed as my father,having no inside toilet ,we had a bucket for this use.On this particular night my father got up to use the bucket in the dark(not pitch black)as he had done many times before,but on this night i woke and next to my father was a dark figure,i saw it and as kids do i hid under the blankets and just thought it was my imagination.The next day i said nothing,then my father came up and said "did you see that thing in the bedroom last night"i said yes ,a chill down my neck as i remembered.I to this day do not know what it was,my father and i never mentioned it again and i never saw it again.It was not a shadow as i tried when i was older to recreate the figure.My father died many years ago so i never got to ask him about it,but we both saw it and i for one will never forget whatever it was.Just thought i"d let someone know who may be interested.

Some time in the 1800, a little girl about 6 years of age, fell into the well. When she was brought up, she was dead and found the cause from drowning although there was no water in the well at the time. Since then, she has been "seen". The way is apparently, you need to walk right round the well (nowadays just kind of outlined) 6 times and call her name 6 times where she will appear from the large tree. But to access the very area, from the very dark country road, you walk down the steps and need to jump the iron fences which i will say, needs courage. I have never done it but beleive me, it is very creepy down there. Many others have "freaked out" down there and years ago, a man in his then 40's said he had been but will NEVER even go near the area again.

hi ive just found this board and was wondering if any of you that take a great interest in ghosts have heard anything about the quality hotel it might even be the central hotel since its in the central railway station glasgow being haunted a friends daughter started work there and she was told it was haunted by a couple of ghosts one a chef who threw himself off the roof the other a woman seemingly there is 2 floors they do not use because the chef wrote all sorts of stuff on the walls and haunts this floor the woman the other floor she says she has seen the writing on the walls and even it looks creepy.

we live in a 4 bed house in preston and i was wondering if anyone can tell me if we have a ghost if anyone goes upstairs in the dark the girls room is opposite the stairs i aswell as other people have seen the shadow of a man just stood at the end of a bed but when you look properly there is no-one there he looks like an old farmer type he wears an old style hat and smokes a pipe his clothes suggest 1920-1930 style we only ever see him through the corner of the eye i have tried to find anything i can about this but no luck

Ive walked in for 2 and a half miles through a semi ancient wodand called locally monkswood 3 in the morning on my own,walked round a lake in dead of night,sat in total blackness doin ouija board on my own and im not scared ive lost the primal fear.all said and done i do believe i have seen a ghost on a few occassions but regard them as surplus energy .the thing that scares me most is groups of women on vigils who are primed like mouse traps screeching at the slightest crack of a twig or rustle of leaves.One thing that probably would scare me is being chased in the dead of night by pan like animal with wooly legs .

Hello!
I have always had weird, unexplainable stuff happen to me ever since I can remember. These particular events were the scariest!
This happened about 10 years ago, maybe even more but it still seems like yesterday. My friend Dave and I were doing our usual late night drive to get some photographic shots of the area (we were going to take some evening shots of trains at Amberley Castle cos you get excellent sparks fly up...) anyway we were on our way to Amberley just before Bury Hill just listening to the stereo. I remember that as we got to a roundabout my stomach felt like it had been turned upside down, as we continued towards...I think the place is Houghton I could suddenly see our car driving along lit up and us lit up in the car, as if I was watching us from the top of the hill with a huge light pointing down on us. Then I could felt absolute terror, It felt as if something was on top of the car and at any moment it was going to appear over the side of the car.It felt like a huge pressure was pushing down on the car and us. I felt sick, scared and unknown to me my mate was feeling and experiencing the exact same events. We decided not to carry on and go home!!
That wasnt the end of the event though, because I started having bad dreams, really terrifying as if I had picked up some evil spirit. Then I had the worst dream I have ever had. I was running through my house trying to get away from something that was on me or in me, as I ran it just stayed with me. Then I ran into my bedroom at high speed and stopped dead at my mirror and I was staring straight into the eyes of a grinning thing, it was on my shoulder. I only glimpsed it but that was too much, I woke up with a bolt and I couldnt breathe. All the air was out of me, it took ages to calm down and ever since that night Im like a baby and have to take a drink of water to bed in case I wake up choking again!
As I said strange stuff has always happened to me and I consider it to be sixth sense. Things happen but I cant make them happen, they just do. I used to be a biker and I remember overtaking cars, being an idiot but at times even if it seemed safe to overtake when I normally would I would stop and then there would be some reason why I hadnt overtaken.Maybe a car that I hadnt seen or something. My girlfriend thinks im weird because these things happen to me! I was singing a tune the other week and I put the tv on and it was that song on in the same point of the song!
My ex work mate was in the van with me a few months ago and he was the first person to witness me having a sixth sense moment in the van. I was driving along quite normally about 60mph on a country road that you would normally just drive on quite happily without braking, but before a corner which isnt particularly bad I slammed the brakes on for what appeared to be no reason but then when we got to the corner a car was overtaking and on our side of the road, so if I hadnt slammed the brakes on we would have smashed into the car!! My colleague was amazed but he said he'd always trust my instincts from then on!!
My mate reckoned that we had picked up bad luck from the Amberley thing. He lost his job, I was attacked and had my jaw snapped in 2 places and fractured in 2 places after going out when I remember I had a really strong feeling that I shouldnt go. I remember in the car on the way still feeling that I shouldnt be going out that night, it felt wrong. I should of trusted my feelings. My mate has told me since that he wont ever go back to that place again. I did though....I dropped my motorbike there! coincidence? The other day my mate told me that his dad fell off his motorbike there as well! Is this place haunted? I think that weird stuff goes on, on top of the hill. awhen I went back there that time I I stopped and went to walk along to see if there was a vibe and I have to tell you the place feels bad.
Does anyone else no of any events at Bury Hill? I think it needs looking into, but from a distance!!

last year i stayed at a travel inn in eastbourne, i have never experienced anything like what happened next, one night i woke to see a figure standing in front of my bed, it was dressed in what i could descibe as an old fashioned nurses uniform, i was so scared that i threw my quilt over my head and literally froze, i also noticed that i was shivering where it was so cold yet the heating was on.
This year after much persuading from my husband to go back there for a weekend i finally agreed as there was alot of curiosity to see whether anything else would happen.
That night i had the strangest dream, i was in a old house with my mum and she was about to pull a fireplace down, as she took a brick away a figure came out of the wall floated straight through my mum and then past through me, as she past through me she said "eva everson". She was very frail and thin with long scraggly hair and old hanging clothes.
After returning home and telling my mum about this dream she looked completely shocked and the colour drained from her face, she told me that this was the name of my nans mum, this was all new to me as i had never ever seen a photo of her nor knew her name.
Can anyone tell me what was on this site before the travel inn was built there also has anyone else ever have strange things happen to them at this particular location.

Hey, I am a 12 year old girl and i got my Pug dog Shadow 2 years ago in November and ever since i got him he has been barking at nothing and even whines at night for no reason at all, and when he does i always look to see what is there and when i do i sometimes see a black figure. And even hear some freaky sounds... And after that i lye back down in my bed and i start freezing and something pushes down on my chest making it where i can hardly breath, if it wasen't for Shadow always sleeping with me in my bed and keeping my warm i think that i would probly get so cold that i would catch nomonia! I am the only one out of my faimly that lives with me (my mother Stephanie, my father James and my grandmother Ethal)who can see it. They all think i'm crazy but i'm not. Please help me out...

I have always loved anything to do with the paranormal for as young as I can remember but in my more recent adult years I have started to question what is real & what isn't. When I was aged 9 I had a pet guinea pig that I absolutely adored & it died in very tragic circumstances which left me heartbroken. When it was alive my mum used to let me bring it in the house to run around the living room & it used to love hiding behind the sofa. Not long after it had died I was in the living room playing with my dolls when out of the corner my eye I spotted a white shape run & disappear behind the sofa which was of the same size & shape of my guinea pig! It made me turn my head to look at it & then made me run out of the room rather alarmed! At the time I was absolutely 100% sure that this was infact my dear departed pet but have doubts now.
Another time when I was 12, my best friend & I were at her house, watching tv in the living room. I was sat on the sofa against the wall & she was sat in a chair by the window when we turned our heads to talk to each other. As we were chatting we saw a a white shape scurry across the floor from the direction of the sofa to under her chair, we both squealed and she lifted her feet up to allow it to run under the chair. The shape didn't look solid but almost transparent & on investigation we found nothing. Her pet hamster had died recently & we were convinced that we had seen it's ghost & were very freaked out by it!
As I am getting older(an ancient 31 now!), I have thought long & hard about my experiences & whether an over-active imagination was to blame. I have lost other pets, friends & relatives since then & not had any similar occurances. Is it due to the fact that I've become more rational as an adult & maybe blocked a part of my brain that was more open & sensitive to the realm of the afterlife or was it just as I've aformentioned the over-active imagination of a child? I would be very interested to hear your comments & experiences & hope that someone can put my mind at rest! Thanks for reading this!

can anyone tell me if they have had similar experiences or what this means ,my friend lived with her young baby in her flat for about 5 years when she met a couple who were into the paranormal she does not really believe in this kind of thing as she has not ever seen anything to fuel this belief, but herself and the couple were in her flat one night having a chat when the man told my friend that he had an evil spirit that followed him around and he could make the spirit come to him my friend told me the man did some strange process and he siad to my friend do you feel any different she told me she felt very cold and she could smell a strong smell of sulphur the man then told my friend that the spirit was standing by her living room door, the evening drew on and the couple left and my friend took herself off to bed babby was sound asleep in his cot she was a little uneasy but managed to convince herself that she only felt cold and she could only smell sulphur because she had convinced herself that that was what she wanted to believe, she went to sleep and awoke the next day and got the baby and went downstairs she went into her living room and what she saw terrified her there were footprints all over her living room ceiling she lived alone with the baby this frightened her so much that she moved out of the flat that day can anyone please tell me anything regarding this thanks

My friend is experiencing a presence in his bedroom -He says its a burnt figure that stands at the bottom of the bed and sometimes a succubus.
I have stayed there myself as I thought it could be his imagination - no - I heard it going through my bag and its footsteps going away when I asked if I could help it.
I have cleansed and smudged the whole house but he says its still there and feels evil. What can I try next?

We have a ghost in one of our bedrooms (and very occasionally elsewhere) and recently it has been spooking my daughter by turning on the tv and opening and closing her wardrobe doors during the night. When the room was my son's he had similar things happening and also things vanishing. We were warned when we moved into the house that there was a resident ghost and since then the whole family has had experience of its mischevious nature at different times. I don't think the ghost means any harm but maybe it's time for her (we're pretty sure who she was in life)to move on. If anyone in North Devon,near Barnstaple, can help in anyway we would be very grateful.

I had an incident last night 3.Feb.05 - related to my bed. I woke up with a start around 2.ooam convinced that someone was holding my legs down below the knee.... maybe sat on my feet I'm not sure. Even as I began to sit up and wake.... I could hear my wife saying "whats wrong" - I was still convinced, utterly, that someone else was in the room and was in fact preventing me from getting up. My wife put the bedside lamp on and now I could see that no-one was there but the memory remained. I got a cold chill which travelled slowly all up my back from my waist to my neck, and I just sat there speechless for about 30 seconds. The other odd thing was that, independantly of me - we hadn't discussed anything at this point - my wife suddenly exclaimed that she was frightened and had a cold chill running up her spine.
I'm sure there are all sorts of explanations for this - its winter so sitting up from a warm bed at 2.00am you could expect to feel a chill, right? But that doesn't feel right to me even now at 10.00am the following morning when its all a bit hazy.
I was convinced that someone was in there with us. Convinced, and I'm not the shaky kind.... I was a Police Oficer for many years and then worked nights for another 5. I'm used to the night and it doesn't worry me a bit, in fact I kind of like wondering about in the dark.... you get a confidence with it after a while - you learn to sit in the shadows so to speak. This was unnerving in a deep way, like some old sense in the mind from darker days when survival meant being alert, the kind that we don't use much today - it was clattering like a fire bell MOVE! MOVE! MOVE or it will be too late!.... that kind of unnerving.
I don't know what happened. I had to get up and check the whole house before I could get back in bed. We slept with the light on for the rest of the night... I haven't done that since I was a kid! My wife didn't drop back off till around 5.20am - she was pretty shook up and she doesn't know why she felt that way either - she didn't feel the pressure on her legs but she felt something was wrong, something she can't explain this morning.

i never was one to believe in UFO's but last nite be and my boyfriend was taking a walk in greasbrough dam's and thought we saw an airoplane. but then it got bigger and bigger and started gliding across the air, it woz quite big and the shape of a sourcer, just like u see in movies!! it stood in mid air and woz spinnin around, it had orange lights all around it, u was really scared but i remember thinking how beautifl it was, me and my boyfriend started to run coz we were both really scared stood in the middle of no where, wen we were at a long distance we looked around again and it woz still ther, then we watched it vanish into fin air, it woz absolutly incredible i cannot believe they really egsist !!! plz contact me if u hav seen anythin like this before coz im well excited about it !!

Hi, Can anyone help me with a question or maybe your own experiences?
I have seen "ghosts" on an occasion where although spooked I was not scared.Once was when I was at work (Im a nurse)and thought I saw another nurse administering to a patient but couldnt figure out who the nurse in white was-It wasnt anyone on duty!But although rattled it didnt make me fearful as I felt it was a friend of the patient.
Another time my husband and I stayed at a motel near an old jail and I "woke" with a man kneeling on my chest and strangling me and the malicious look on his face was terrifying! I then "woke up" properly and told my husband about this.I put it out of my mind until 13 years later when my brother(who had never heard of my experience)was telling me about how they had been on a "Ghost tour" at the same place and one of the stories told was how a tradesman "woke up" with a man on his chest who was strangling him-this happened 7 years after my experience and I hadnt told anyone!!!!The hair on the back of my neck took ages to come down!!
But still this was not as bad as the experience I had about 4 weeks ago.my son had a friend over and he was showering after being at the beach.i was talking to my son and all of a sudden "Out of the corner of my eye"I saw what I thought was a small boy RACE past my kitchen bench.I thought it was my sons friend and I said "What are you running in here for" and there was no-one there.The shower was still running so I said"Thats naughty leaving the water running while you are hiding" and I knocked on the door and he was still in the shower!I felt this"thing"which visually looked like a small child but running REALLY fast was not benign but I cant really tell you why!It creeped me out much more than the strangler though!
So can someone reply if they have ever caught something running "Out of the corner of their eye" or should I commence medicating myself?????

Hey it's me again. I found out more about the spirtes in my house and since i can see them and talk to them they actualy seem preaty nice! Well some of them at least. One of them is an orange haired boy (his hair is bullcut) that has thease freaky cloths that look like they are made of straw. He has red eyes and his sking is pale white. I know he sounds freaky and mean but he is realy nice to me and is my friend! But the others spirites in my house are mean and evil. He know some of the other spirtes but not all of them. I almost forgot, the reason i put the subject as Skull Kid is because that is his name! Well thats what he likes me to call him anyway!

hey guys pretty cool website, i myself have had many ghostly experiences, the house i am in at the moment is currently haunted as was the house i used to live in. Just wanna give three experiences, the most memorable experience was in august 2003, i woke one morning to see an old guy sat at the bottom of my bed, he resembled my grandad who'd died 9 years before, i could feel him sat on my left leg and when i looked closer i realised i could see my posters and wallpaper through him, the second he dissapeared the temperature in the room increased and i was left with this sort of eary feeling. My sister too saw the same guy stood at the foot of her bed not three months after my experience, i realised the guy was a real ghost and not me seeing things because i had never told my mum or my sister about my experience so when she saw the same guy, it verified what i had suspected. An old girlfriend of mine too saw the same guy one of the times she stayed at mine, she saw him looking at her from the top of the stairs. As i said above i first thought it was my late grandad but then realised it wasnt, the guy i and two others have seen has long white hair, bold on top, a pointy sort of stereotypical witch face, cream and grey checkered jumper and grey trousers, this is not what my grandad looked like. This is just one of many enterties/ghosts spotted in my current residence.
