I'll answer that just in case lol.
The Targum Yohantan answers that for us. It says that it is
An abhor abhorrence for a woman to wear a tallit. This Targum was written in the first century and is the oldest reference to this topic available. We don't see the issue addressed till much later at the time of Rashi and he allowed it because his daughter wanted to wear one. So we go with the oldest ruling that is available.
