The reason MOST Messianic sites do that is because they do not want to offend any Orthodox Jewish people. The Orthodox and some Reformed do not believe it's ok to write out the full name of G-d due to a Scripture which says it is ineffable. So instead of writing God they write G-d. That's not what that particular Scripture is saying but that's how the Rabbis have interpreted it. That being said, most Messianics write it the same way as to not offend. I say MOST because there are some Messianic branches who are Orthodox in orientation.These are called Rabbinic Messianic Jews. They do what the Rabbis say just like the Orthodox do. I myself am not a Rabbinical Messianic, I am a Mosaic Jew. I do what the Bible says... not what the unsaved Rabbis say... but I also write "G-d" to not offend my fellow Jewish people.
