Yes, it is a gun rack, almost any shoulder fired piece could fit in there, but I guess it was designed for Garrands. They are being reproduced nowadays, a couple hundred or so each, most ww2 jeep parts sites should have them, Peter DeBella, beachwood, Ron fitzpatrick I would think to start. They-or thier brackets- were part of the windshield frame from about mid '43 on, earlier jeeps could have had them welded inplace in the field, or should I say the motor pool- a unit thing.
