Subject: PATRIOT ACT

PATRIOT ACT Rep. David Zuckerman along with Rep. Betty Nuovo are coordinating a resolution to support Congressman Sanders? efforts in congress relating to the Patriot Act passed by Congress in 2001. This resolution primarily focuses on our constitutional rights to privacy and the erosion of those rights through the Patriot Act. Specifically, it contains language opposing the CIA authorization to engage in domestic spying activities. It also has language asking the Congress to reverse its policy around library's and bookstores where the CIA and FBI can secretly take information from librarians and bookstore owners relating to their patrons? activities. The bill offers the legal services of the Attorney General Office to represent librarians and libraries in actions taken by the federal government under the Patriot Act. Please contact your local representative and ask them to find Rep. Zuckerman in order to co-sponsor the resolution.
