I just stay informed by doing a lot of reading. I have traveled in these areas professionally and on vacations. The areas I illustrated were well within my travels during my time. I even traveled up to Lone Pine, California to take in full view the memorial of those who died in the 1872 Lone Pine, California earthquake.

The point is you never should depend on others including law enforcement when severe emergencies happen. What defense and wits you do have will depend on your own responsibility for a given time. It takes time for any civil defense plans to be activated under dire circumstances of this nature.

We had safety classes at the telecommunication company I worked for. This included earthquake safety classes conducted partially by police, sheriff personnel. They would document whatever I have illustrated, Susi.

It's what you call, the nature of the beast.......reality, pure and simple.
