Subject: Some Calling Themselves "Liberals" Are NOT So Liberal

when tolerating different viewpoints. I notice this about the "politically correct" liberal position by many of these people in question. Today's liberalism derives from an earlier form of liberalism which came from the counter-culture 1960's. Funny how the liberalism back then would hoot, cat call, and shout down those who disagreed with them. This would include liberal oriented students from the "Free Speech" movement of the University Of California At Berkeley beter known as "CAL-BERKLEY". Or the correct teminology called "JERKELEY"?
I seem to remember when then Governor Ronald Reagan tried to speak there, he was shouted down and was not allowed to give his point of view. This holds true to today with many self professed liberals of "political correctness".
This does not pertain to all liberals of course. The late United States Senator from Minnesota, Hubert Humphrey (D)-Minnesota faced ire and wrath by the same liberal groupings because he was pro-gun thus pro Second Amendment. These same groupings even today choose to run a select "litmus test" on the politics of "purity". Radical feminist deride and punish a former member of their group in California. Her name is Tammy Bruce. Her selected "crime" is that she broke ranks and came out in favor of gun-rights. She was clearly a feminist and a self professed lesbian at that. She also broke ranks with them over their hypocritically stance when it came to liberal male politicians who are found out to be sexual harrassers, but nothing is done about them.
When a movement becomes so distinct and "pure" with no tolerance of another viewpoint, that movement will relegated to a select minority status forevermore. This doctrinare "purity" was started many years back in the 1960's. I even knew a lady who was a committeewoman for the GOP. She formally was a Democrat along with her husband. She worked for Robert F. Kennedy in the late 1960's. Her "crime" was that she was a self professed member of the National Rifle Association. She was selectively hooted, harrassed out of the Democrat Party after Robert F. Kennedy was murdered at the Ambassador Hotel; downtown Los Angeles, California. Her tormentors and former associates accused her of being "responsible" for the shooting death of Robert F. Kennedy because of her known membership with the NRA.
She and her husband gladly left the Democrat Party thereafter. This tells you what much of today's liberalism is all about. Political correctness gone mad.

Leland
