Subject: Why I am posting my land

I am pro-hunting. I think that it is healthier, more humane and more sensible to take wild game than to eat the irradiated, genetically engineered, hormone injected, mass produced meat that is grown in grocery stores. I have hunted. Friends of mine hunt.

But I AM POSITNG MY LAND. Yesterday, a hunter shot a buck in the back yard of a friend of mine ... 30 feet away from her house. He was road hunting in a residential neighborhood. No hunter should ever fire a weapon so close to houses. It is simply a stupid thing to do. When my friend called the local game warden to report this "hunter" my friend was told that THERE ARE NO LAWS PROHIBITING HUNTING IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS. It does not matter if the deer is three feet away from your front door ... a hunter can take aim and shoot ...

Since there are hunters out there who have no respect for the safety of others and since there are no laws protecting me and my family in my own back yard, I am posting my 40 acres in the North East Kingdom. My mother has decided to post the 50 acre family farm (also in the Kingdom.) I also have friends in Stowe, Morrisville, and Johnson who have decided to post their land as the result of this one hunter who has no cares about the safety of others ...

Until the laws change so that it is illegal to hunt within 300 feet of a home, this land will be off limits to hunters.
