Subject: National Rifle Association & 2002 Election

While political anti-gun zealots like Michael Barnes of Gun Control Inc. deny the fact that the National Rifle Association with its stalwart membership registered voters in the 2002 election, liberals go nto self denial.
Incumbent Max Cleland of Georgia was one example of a standing United States Senator who started to waver his support on the Second Amendment. Little by little he was swallowing the anti-gun hysteria of Hillary Clinton, Charles Schumer and Teddy Kennedy. This position could be fatal in a pro-gun state like Georgia. When he inched over to that position not as quite extreme as Rosie O'Donnell's, he was a lost cause for that reason. This was not the only reason why Cleland lost, but pro-gun people did work for his defeat.
In truth for any heartland Democrat to be successful, he/she most abandon the far left position and the anti-gun hysteria that dominates the National Democrat Party. The Hillary Clinton postion of being anti-gun does not cut it in heartland America. Liberals who take anti-gun positions on this issue, turns off middle America.
One liberal who is pro-gun is Congressman John Dingell (D)-Michigan. Even the ultra extreme left tried to defeat him in the Democratic primary last summer. This too failed as the voters of the 15th district saw through this radical proy orchestrated by Nancy Pelosi (D)-California and Hillary Clinton (D)-New York.
