Date Posted: 04:03:44 11/21/02 Thu Nathan is currently a 22-year-old, 5'2" (alright, 5'1.75") college student at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. He can't recall what year he's in now, just that he's been going to school for way too long. He's taken a variety of computer classes, including programming, networking, and hardware courses. Nathan graduated from College Park High School on June 11, 1997. He didn't go to the graduation ceremony, or the all-night party. (Nathan is not one to get all worked up about little things like this.) Nathan was the school's resident computer guru, and was frequently called on to help teachers with their computers. He has experience in both Macintosh and PC computers. He always carries a toolbox of computer equipment and disks with him just in case he encounters a computer that needs repair. Even though he graduated, he still goes to his old high school between classes at college, to continue to offer his services. While the school's (lack of) budget makes it unlikely that he will ever get paid officially for any of his work, he does get hired out by various teachers to do private paid work at $10 an hour. Nathan is also an experienced computer programmer, although he has never had any of his programs published. His language of choice formerly was Turbo Pascal, but has moved on to begin programming in C. Nathan is a former die-hard DOS user, hates Windows, and believes that Microsoft has screwed over the PC market. Sadly, while he runs Linux, and does everything he can in it, he is stuck doing certain tasks under Windows, as a viable Linux alternative simply doesn't exist. He still hopes that Linux will one day become the operating system to liberate the PC universe from Bill Gate's tyranny forever. Nathan is also interested in Science Fiction. He has a stack of tape drawers that stack up almost hip-high (although not all of them are fully loaded). Included in his collection are: 2001: A Space Odessy, Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Red Dwarf, Blake's 7, Nathan is also a collector of wisdom. He maintains a collection of one-line words of wisdom (available on this site). He checks the Internet for new ones every day and adds them to his database. He even went so far as to print each one on a sheet of colored paper and post them all in one of his classrooms. He eventually wall-papered the classroom. Nathan finds it quite peculiar writing about himself in the third-person like this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now, just to further demonstrate how far out of the mainstream I am... Nathan's Statements of Heresy: (A.k.a. Stuff I hate) I hate sports, they bore me to tears. Except for Baseball, which I'm only mildly interested in, and Volleyball, which I like (but only if I'm actually participating in it) I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. I have no desire to pollute my body with toxic chemicals Body piercings, tattoos, and other forms of mutilitation are ugly. Microsoft Windows is Evil! (But I've already gone there. See above.) Sorry about that. I just had to get it all off my chest. If I've offended any of you, feel free to burn me at the stake. And now for something more positive. Stuff I like: Favorite music group of all time: Pink Floyd Favorite game of all time: Doom Favorite TV series of all time: Doctor Who Favorite type(s) of music: Anything goes, but strong preferences are new age, electronic, dance, and classic, old-fashioned rock and roll.
