Subject: County Cup Rnd 3: Tamworth Ladies 0 Cottage Farm 1

This game was transfered from CF Home ground across to Tamworth at Anker Valley due to a waterlogged pitch.

It however did not deter any of the Cottage Farm team from a Win, infact it made it even sweeter!

In a game that had to be finalised on the day, to be quite honest only one team ever looked like winning. First half was a tight affair with both Tamworth & Cottage Farm having their share each of possesion, Tamworth seemed determined to push the tempo but Rangers managed to pacify them quite easily with both Midfield & Defence standing tall against some quality and skillful play. Rangers were by far the more threatening and from several set plays had very good opportunities to take the lead, with the Tamworth keeper coming to their rescue on many an occasion, with several superb one on one saves keeping Tamworth in the game. First Half 0 - 0.

Second half started out in much the same vain, each side having a share of possesion. Each trying to probe an opening. It was about 10 minutes into the second half that Tamworth had their best opportunity to take the lead, some clever play in the box and a well placed shot were matched with a world class one handed save by the Rangers keeper. This seemed to kick start the Rangers team once again on a wet and miserable day. Some swift play and intelligent passing ensued as we probed, but lacking the finishing, not helped by the Tamworth keeper being in superb form. Minutes ticked by and Tamworth almost seemed to had given up and were hoping for Extra Time, Cottage continued the fight, winning several corners of which one we should have scored from however a superb clearance was made from the covering defender on the line. It was in the last two minutes Cottage Farm had their break through, a superb through ball splitting Tamworth's central defence in two with our striker running clear an unleashing a superb shot that rifled into the back of the net in the 92nd minute. Tamworth did not have time to recover as 30 seconds later the ref blew for Full Time. Final Score 0 - 1.

Superb win for Cottage Farm, well done girls we totally deserved it today, this Cup could well be ours! You never know. Have a good christmas and our next game is against Great Wyrley in the New Year at home. 'AV IT!!!!
