The small-build of a wolf skimmed through the shadows of the trees at an alarming pace. One would think she would have been making some noise, but she made none at all.

Seeing some movement, the tan and brown female stopped and rotated her head to get a better view. A lone male laid nearby, just having stretched out to rest.

She focused her golden eyes and saw how tattered the male was, though he was of good health otherwise. She furrowed her brow, and thought about why he was here. A mate? A pack? Territory? Or just some company?

Moving carefully and silently, the female came in for a closer look. She hoped she would not disturb him, for she had had past experiences when something she had disturbed had turned on her.
