North Carolina has a lot of history attached to it, civil war battlefields and ships lost at sea just to name a few. Your best bet would be to start at the battle fields and start talking to locals.

Talk to the kids, I know we as teenagers used to know every 'hot spot' for miles specially the boys because they would take us out there to spook us out and get the opprutunity to 'protect us'

Personally I was born and raised in Virginia so I'm not quite sure what you have in your area, but I'm positive there are some local legends to investigate

Thanks for the tip about the house we'll go see if we can't find anything, not sure how to approach the owners but we will try!
