Subject: History - Lingfield Jug

I have recently obtained a Ridgway jug, with a picture and inscription, 'The Village Cage at Lingfield' on one side, together with an illustration of five travellers with cocked hats, bearing the inscription 'Christmas Eve' on the other. The jug is about six inches wide and five inches high. It is a golden brown/brown colour and is immaculate.

On the base of the jug is written:

'Scenes from Coaching Days and Coaching Ways. By Special Permission of Macmillan & Co Ltd. Ridgways England' and numbered 104.

I bought it because I liked it, knowing nothing of Lingfield, but being interested in history and collectable pieces. However, I realise it may well be of some interest to you. Unfortunately, I do not have the facilitiy to send a photo by email.

Please contact me if you are interested.

Gill Whitford (Mrs)
