Margaret Maton may be remembered by the more senior members of Lingfield & Dormansland.
She is a retired Maths and Science teacher.
Her father was Frederick Head.
She emmigrated to New Zealand in 1971 from her address in Hollowlane, Dormansland.
Arthur Maton was her husband and her two sons are Andrew Maton and Stanley Maton.
Andrew lives in Dunedin New Zealand.
Stanley has been married to Sandra (Kiwi girl) for 15 years. They have two children - Sarah (14) and Luke (12).
They live in Hastings New Zealand.
They will be visiting relations and friends in Lingfield and Dormansland in December 2005.
Stanley was born at 123 Hollowlane, Dormansland in 1959 at the family home.
School friends included Neil Weaver and Peter Doran.
Margaret Maton is in a council flat in Hastings New Zealand.
Even though the years have taken their toll on her health she still has the same quick and intelligent mind and wit that she is so admired for by past pupils.
Margaret was on the local Council and had a key roll in the care of the village pond and monument in the late 1960s.
A brave lady who had the strength, faith and vision to move her children to New Zealand for a better life. This was prompted by first her father, then brother Gordon and then her husband all dying within a very short period of each other.
She also was not happy with the Governments politics concerning immigrants and the growing use of drugs in Britain in the early 1970s.
Well done Margaret Maton! You are a Legend.

Your loving son Stan Maton
