Subject: Lost and found

I am writing to report the loss of my fountain pen. I searched the desk drawer, the pot on the top of the desk, the floor underneath the desk, the wastepaper bin to the side of the desk, the pocket folder that had been on the desk, the desk of the person who last visited my desk, the desk of the person who had most recently visited the desk of the last person to visit my desk, the outside window ledge to the edge of my desk, the pavement beneath the window to the edge of my desk and an almost infinite expanse of darkness, all without success.

I have since been told that the fountain pen was found in the pocket of the suit jacket hanging on the back of my desk chair.

When my skull has mended I look forward to returning to my desk and using my pen once again.
