I think half these goats that are victimising the refs wouldn't know the rules anyway. There are rules that change every year and it's quite often that a player isn't sure what the exact rule is until the situation arises on the field. Without the refs there is no game, and seen as though there are limited numbers in the refreeing ranks it is difficult to have the best out there for each game. The best ref in the comp had the 1st grade game at Port and even he didn't have the best of games by his own personal standards. Didn't make the game less enjoyable for us spectators though. All the refs can do is try their best, the same as the players, if the players didn't make mistakes we would have nil all games every week and no need to play the game.
