Cub Cup is a great league.
Sure, it might be a pub comp. But so what, thats what Rugby Union in the Illawarra is, anyway?
I'd rather watch a game of cub cup league than union any day.
Having played, and witnessed all, i can't stand any of you baffons bashing it.
you can really tell you've never played in your life and don't remember the spirit in which the game is played.
Do none of you also realise that the reason the league is failing is because there is not enough emphasis on it?
League is strong in the illawarra, but it could be so much stronger. Under 18 players, when they turn 19, where do they go?
They either go to reserve grade... or nowhere.
If more emphasis was placed on Tooheys Cup, these players wouldn't necessarily be lost... And with experience and playing around some great older players (and you have a look at the program guide, there are a number of players who played at high levels, and still can play)... these kids could go further...
Does anyone remember when their was a 4th division in the Illawarra? Hmmmmmmmm?
