The pokie tax hasn't seemed to have caused any spending cuts during the off season. It looks as though 7 of the 9 clubs will consider themselves premiership contenders in 2004. With the return of the Tweedle brothers to the Cougars, they will also cause the odd upset and Helesburgh are always an unknown quality at the start of the year. Thirroul must start favourites due to their great 2003, but Collies, Dapto, Port, Wests, Uni and Wollongong will all be worthy challengers. This is looking like being even better than last season, the most succesful in years for the local comp. Good luck to the local teams, especially Corrimal in the Country Cup.
