They say trial form is nothing to go by, but Sundays 10's tournament between 5 of the 6 tooheys cup teams was an entertaining day of rugby league, played in the true spirit of the game.

For the record, Norths were the standout side, going through five games undefeated and winning the final against Windang. But the closeness of the competition and the skill level on display, makes for an intriguing season ahead.

It must be said that a third division title residing anywhere other than Avondale is great for the game at this level. Perhaps even a sign of things to come...

Thanks must go to the last minute organisation and in particular Darren Van De Moosdyk, who worked his arse off as referee for most of the day.
