Thirroul have unearthed born again rookie and local crowd favourite Todd "poppa" Grose for the first time this year during the game against Woden Valley on the weekend. Coach Jones has been keeping the star player in cotton wool but chose to play Todd in an effort to improve his match fitness. Coach Jones said "Todd was disillusioned with Rugby League last year and decided to take a year off to work on his cousins Camel breeding farm in the Northern Territory. He has cleared his head and has come back with a new found enthusiasm for the game." It is the first time this year that Todd has been able to shed the Garbage bags he has been training in, (in an effort to shed some weight before the season proper) and he was simply scintillating out on the right flank. Sources close to the butchers camp have revealed he had been suffering from the same symptoms as Owen Craigie. "Yeah he came back a little over-weight so we sent him away to Towradgi Leisure Centre for 2 weeks so he could work exclusively with our conditioning coach Blake Eager" stated Coach Jones. Crowd numbers for Thirroul games have already risen with his return and there is no doubt he will have many of them on their feet with his freakish talents. Stay tuned for more news throughout the year on this rags to riches story!
