However, I am also a liberal in some matters and a conservative in others and I think that applies to most people. It seems that to become too much of any single philosophy is to become a fanatic with a permanently closed mind. All mental activity should be a process of growth and I think that strongly-held doctrines tend to be limiting. This, of course, would appear to be compatible with #2.
