There is nothing to stop from buying a used car outright having it converted by any suitable engineer thus saving a great deal of money.

And you get to keep your DLA money to spend else where.

The used car market is flooded with bargins and you can get decent cars for a £1000 or 4 months DLA.

Then all you need to do is get the controls fitted from your current car to the £1000 bargin.

Once you are out of the government Motobility system you do not need to use accredited engineers and insurance companies will accept work done by non accredited engineers.

The AA will cover the breakdown bit.

It is not rocket science. I do my own. And I use my DLA for fuel and get out and about.

My mate runs a 10 year old BMW 5 series on DLA and a very nice car it is.
