Author: Private Burrell Douglas
Subject: 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry

My ancestors was place under arrest in Ogelthorpe Barracks in Savannah, GA around May of 1864. He was found guilty of desertion. The order to have him "shot by musketry" was cancelled by Jefferson Davis. He was held under arrest until Nov. 19, 1864 and Burrell Douglas and 23 other men were "pardoned and restored back to duty" by the President of the Confederacy. This was right before Sherman made it to Savannah. His widow pension application had two sworned affidavits that said he died from results of injuries received while in line of duty about 19 years later. Are there any records that would shows records of those that were injured during the Civil War. Especially around Sherman's March to the Sea.
