Subject: Blackland Cemetery

Greetings!

The date for our first effort to restore the Blackland Cemetery will be Sunday May 9th. Any of you who are able to attend on Saturday, May 8th are welcomed to as well, but I will be there on Sunday, in the wee hours of the morning.
I have a gas-powered weed eater. For those of you who can attend that have weed eaters and chain saws, please bring them. If you do not have some sort of snake protection, I strongly urge you to do so. Sgt. Hastings has requested that we not shoot any rattlesnakes, but let him catch them alive. I have done this myself in the past, and will be glad to assist as I have some catchers at the house.
As we clear the debris away from the stones, we need to document their location, condition, and what information can be read from them. Mrs. Bennet, I greatly appreciate any assistance that the Ladies could provide in this regard.
I will set up my tent fly. If you have one, please bring it as I am sure that it will be rather warm out there. I will bring jugs of tea in ice chests, along with brisket for lunch. Anyone is welcomed to bring refreshments and side dishes if they so choose, just let me know who is bringing what.

YOS,

2nd Lt. Preston Furlow
