Gentlemen and your LAdies,

We have been invited to participate in the Confederate Heroes Day festivities by the UDCm District IV. IT will take place at 11:00 am, January 22, at the West Fork Presbyterian Church at 905 Santerre Drive, Grand Prairie.
From I-30, take highway 360 North from Arlington. Exit on Brown/Ave K and turn right (east). Just after the railroad tracks, turn left onto 109th Street. Go to Santerre Drive and turn east. The historic church will be on your left.

Sgt. Dan Hastings is cooking something up for February, and will divulge the details as soon as they materialize.

On April 15th, we will be conducting a ceremony for an ancestor of Cpl. Ben Hatch. Ben will provide the directions and where-to-fores.

On MAy 14th, at 2:00 pm, there will be a ceremony dedicationg a Southern Cross of Honor to Pvt. George W. Woodall, Co. G, 14th Texas Cavalry. Pvt. Woodall was, as of October 3, 1863, a recipient of the Confederate Medal of Honor. He was wounded 7 times during the war, and it pretty much disabled him in his post-war life. To date, there is no indication adorning his grave that he is a Confederate veteran, and THAT'S about to change. Thing is, he is buried outside of Frederick, Oklahoma, at the HAckberry cemetery. I will provide directions as soon as they are available. This is a "come if you want" event, for you are all certianly welcome. Pvt. Woodall is my cousin, and I am procurring the Cross for him. We have Mr. Bill Hutto of Colorado bringing at least one, maybe three artillery pieces. Sgt.-Major Preston Ware of the TMVI battalion is bringing some men as well. The drive is about 3 hours or so from the metroplex. Again, this is one of those that I am only inviting you to, not requiring you to attend.

I spoke with Kathey Hunt, and she is no longer on the historical committee in Kaufman county. She did, however, put me in contact with whom I needed to get the brush piles removed. I will be advised when they are gone, and we can then resume work at Blackland cemetery.

Take care Ladies and Gentlemen, and email me if you have any questions. Until then, I remain,

Your Obedient Servant,

Lt. Preston Furlow
