Subject: 2006 Schedule of Events

Hello Everyone: following are the events planned so far for 2006. We have quite a busy schedule this spring; this posting has events planned thru July, and there are tenative events planned for later in the year.

Feb. 25th- Camp #239 Live Shoot: this event was rained out and will be rescheduled. Stay tuned...

March 17 - 19- Beaumont Ranch: we will be recruiting at this event. Planning on having a tent and table set up. Look for the Grays banner flying.

Mar. 24, 25, 26- Camp Ford Encampment, Tyler TX- another recruiting effort, and a chance introduce ourselves to East Texas. This looks like a large event, with a chance to do some camping, and also including a re enactment. Anyone wanting to come out to this one would certainly be welcome to set up in the Grays bivouac.

April 15- Unreconstructed concert. Though not an actual Grays event, it is still going to be a great show for the living history community. Tickets are $20. Contact Paul Martin for tickets at: 817-542-0079 or 817-558-2369.

April 22- Mary Looney Dedication, Comfort, TX- the Confederate Grays have been asked by the United Daughters of the Confederacy to turn out for a marker dedication at the grave of Mary Looney, late wife of Lt. Bob Looney. Directions available later.

April 23 (?)- proposed date of a Confederate History Month observation at Dido Cemetery in Tarrant County. This will be in co operation with SCV Camp # 239.
This date may change.

May - Memorial Day Weekend- a double header is being planned for this weekend. We will be at the gravesites of both Gen. Hiram Granbury in Granbury and Maj. James M. Handley in Fort Worth: Sat in one place and Sun. in the other. More information forthcoming...

June 11- Sun.- Rockford Cemetery-Lamar County, TX- William Hatch Dedication/Rockford Reunion- this is a small local event that we appeared at last year, and have been invited back. We will dedicate the new headstone for William B. Hatch, a veteran of the battles of Corinth and Franklin. More info will be available later.

July 15- Corsicana, TX- Memorial for Isaac N. Brown of the Confederate Navy- on the morning of July 15, 1862, the ironclad CSS Arkansas, Lt. Isaac N. Brown commanding, blasted her way thru the Federal fleet on her way to Vicksburg.

Well those are the planned events for now. We have acouple of other events in the early planning stages also. Please look this list over and start planning now to make as many as you can. We will be conducting recruiting efforts at all events.
Hope to see many of you in the months ahead! Thanks a lot...
