Gentlemen and your Ladies,

We had an absolutely terrific time at the Lawrence cemetery Sunday. This was a ceremony that honored all the veterans interred there from the US-Mexican War to WWII.

Each soldier was remembered as Gary Bray called out a name and asked who would speak for him. Each reply was declared by a member of the Grays who declared ' I will speak for him, Sir. He is gone but not forgotten.'

At the laying of the wreaths, Ms. Judy Bennett brought the attention of the attendees to those women whom these soldiers had left behind in their call to duty. It was one of the most beautiful and moving quotations that I've heard. Thank you, Judy, for the wonderful job you did!

The grays then delivered three fine vollies, and held their rifles in Present Arms during the playing of Taps. All said and done, it was a beautiful service, and the attendees were most appreciative. Pat Emmerett, Pvt. Jon Aaron (only a couple more and you get the black sash), Cpl. Tom and Judy Bennett, 1st Sgt. Tom McDonough, Cpl. Ben Hatch, thank you each and every one for making the trip to this event. Gary Bray, thank you for falling in and assisting in those fine vollies, and for the job you do. We hope to see you again soon!

I hope to see each of you again soon. Remember to mark down June 19th as a work day at Blackland cemetery. If you need directions, let me know. We had a great time out there last time, and we will do so again! Bring chainsaws, weedeaters, and lawn mowers (a riding mower would be great!).

YOS,

2nd Lt. Preston Furlow
