Folks, if you know me, you know I don't like to use music to preach politics too much. But due to a recent argument I had with our bassist, I believe I need to address this issue. It is about voting.

First, let me start by saying that in the 2000 elections, 40% of the American population didn't vote. FORTY PERCENT. People bitch and moan about how the president is doing a horrible job or how the economy is bad and blah blah blah but god forbid they should get up off their fat asses and take 5 minutes to vote!

The only people that basically get all the benefits from politicians are senior citizens. Why? Because they are the only people who vote! Which brings me to my second point. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO YOU VOTE FOR. That's right. Vote for the communist party! It doesn't matter. If you vote, you are sending a message to politicians saying "Yes, I'm voting. If you want me to elect you, what's in it for me?". Politicians can see the percentage of different age groups that vote, so that's why they cater mainly to old folks and not young ones.

Anyone who says that they are making a statement by not voting, let me tell you something. You are dead wrong. In fact, that is one of the most ignorant comments made in the US. You might as well send a letter to a politician saying "Ignore me. I have no importance in this country." All the protests in the world don't mean a thing unless the votes agree.

Everybody has something to fight for in this country. Even the ignored teenagers. How about the RIAA, the music tyrant that is SUING THEIR OWN CUSTOMERS? Kerry and Kucinich are against it. How about Lieberman's view that video games like GTA3 should be banned? Yes, these do affect us. You are an idiot if you don't think so.

If you say you don't care enough to vote, do us a favor and leave the country. I don't want to hear this crap anymore. Just stop being a damn baby and vote. Not registered? It isn't brain surgery, just go to http://www.dupageelections.com/pdf/registrationform.pdf

Also, www.vote-smart.org is great for looking at candidates. Thank you for reading my rant.
