i live in central wi. i look in bedding areas(mostly under hemlock trees for me and on the edges of hills) and in feeding areas because they dont really do anything but eat and rest in the winter and while you are going from one area to the next you might find them there also because chances are you would be following their same trails if you can find some fresh tree tops on the ground thats a good spot if they are eating the bark off of them because their antlers will get caught in them
