Subject: Death Stands Above Me by W S Landor (listen online mp3)

Perhaps it takes the burdens of a long and oftened troubled life to come up with something so profound as this very lyrical piece by Walter Savage Landor (1775 - 1864) who even in his eighties was compelled to leave his native England for the final six years of his life in exile in Italy to escape the justice of the English libel courts. a result of his satirical writings which had caused offence to several high profile figures of the time.
Heres a link to the page where you can listen to this and many other classic poems set to music....

Death Stands Above Me

DEATH stands above me, whispering low
I know not what into my ear:
Of his strange language all I know
Is, there is not a word of fear.
