I think it's an awesome idea. Besides, who says the DM should do all the work?? I think having the players adlib things like that makes the game more interesting...more collaborative. I would think it would also encourage more roleplaying. I'm as guilty as anyone of just roll-playing instead of role playing, but it's so much easier to role play when everyone else is.
