Subject: Scooby Snacks?

Excellent analogy -- what's their motivation?
Fred -- Fred was an idiot: It was always the mild mannered person they meet a the start fo the mystery. Every single time, without fail. You'd think he'd figure it out, but no ... we need to put ourselves in physical danger for 20 minutes first. Also, how many opportunities were missed to score with Daphne? He's got her alone, he's acting brave, she's a little scared . . . the only explanation is that he's gay, why else would he wear a scarf?! I know I don't wanna play a gay undead hunter.
Motivation: Avoid sexual orientation by immersing himself in his work
Daphne -- Does she just seem smart cuz she's a hottie or is she a hottie BECAUSE she's smart -- I wouldn't mind solving that mystery.
Motivation: score with Fred . . . Sorry honey, Fred's so deep in the closet he'll never find his way out
Velma -- There's alot of talk that she's a lesbian (and not of the lipstick variety). This is false. TV shows are only allowed a single gay stereotype and Scooby Doo has Fred.
Motivation: Not to lose glasses
Scooby -- the only defacto smart character on the show: Runs from danger, gets paid BEFORE doing what he's told, steals food from others.
Motivation: Scooby Snacks
Shaggy -- perpetual stoner, does what Fred says because he's hoping to get fed. Otherwise he'd have to live on the streets and sell his body -- probably to Fred.
Motivation: Scooby Snacks . . . I mean drugs (likethe subtext isn't obvious!)

Treasure? Get's dull after a while.

Truth -- maybe.

I hate the revenge motivation -- very cliched.

Books of lore -- Sort of Treasure and Truth combined: Maybe gets dull after a while

>fear that the rising dead is fortelling the coming of >horrible, shambling gods of eternal darkness...

And this is bad because . . . ?

My thoughts:

Power -- we kill undead because we seek recognition, station and wealth.
Civic Duty -- we love our homeland and wish to protect it -- if not us, then who?!
Fear -- yeah, what you said
Survival -- Fear x Civic Duty

I'm not saying everyone needs the same motivation -- it's just a conversation that we seldom have but adds a bit of depth to the game for me . . .
