Hey, I definetly think that the whole Hanover scene is kind of lame. I mean sure I may not have been into punk rock that long(about 2-3 years, before the posers took over)but I know a fake scene when I see one. I`ve lived in Hanover all my life too. I`m 13, but I don`t wear a mohawk, or skateboard or anything like that to be punk. I`d rather stay the way I am. All the kids at EHMIS(yes,I`m still in middle school, but don`t judge my age)that say they are into what they call "punk rock" all have the mohawks, the spiked har,the stud stained coat with all their favorite bands. It`s kinda ridiculous(and ironic at the same time) though that they used to be macho jock types(back about a year or 2 ago, when I first started middle school)but now ever since "punk" has become a trend, them and people like them get into it and will join it only because it`s a cult like following and because they skateboard. Yet they are so ignorant and so unchanged from when they were "macho", that they make other kids that are just getting into it intimadated and giving them a message that they don`t belong in their eyes. That is definetly not punk. I hate to police and bitch about how stupid the so called "punk rock" posers at my school are, but I hate it when one of them comes up to me or one of my friends and trys to make fun of us or pull down our self-esteam ,and they do the same to other kids. Yet, they are still mostly their gullible old selves bullying us into thinking that they were into punk rock faster than we were and that we are the "posers". I hate being treated and I hate when my friends and other kids in my school are treated like scum just because they wear a Ramones shirt, a Jello Biafra shirt, a local band shirt, etc when they themselves are still clueless themselves and do the same exact things they say they don`t do. Hypocrites! I`m just so pissed at them, it makes me sick and a little amused at the same time, especially when i remember how they used to be and why they weren`t and never will be punk,no matter how much they get in trouble, how good they skateboard, or how many studs they have on their jackets. That is probably why the Hanover scene sucks so much. 1. All the losers and other disenfranchised kids that want to communicate with each other and fight back are bullied and scared off by all these former macho jock types. and 2.The bands just aren`t as good as they were, especially the local Hanover bands(not all of them though, just a growing number). I`ll admit, I`m not that "punk" in such terms either, but I know what "punk" really stands for or did stand for. I know though that the whole "punk" trend will go away sooner or later and all the good of the un-macho scene will come back and everyone will be able to fight back and have the "real" self esteem to do so. The first step to do that is simply to welcome in new people and show them the right way into "punk" especially if you know that they are not for or intrested in anything the so called "hardkore kids" that were mean to them when they were macho jocks are trying make it sound. I know that there are real "punk" fans and "punks"(in general) out there and here in Hanover. I hope that explains what you and I feel and gives some insight.
