Subject: Christian Punk

Ok, well I'm hesitant writing this do to previous "touchy" issues that create alot of stir on the site but I want to just say what I think about christian punk. First of all I'm a christian and Second i think "christian punk" IS an oxymoron. I mean look at the roots of punk and look what it still stands for. But at the same time punk has been all I've known for the last 3 or 4 years of my life. I've met some of the coolest people through shows and had some of the best time. As far as everyone thinking "christian punks" are just coming in to change your scene, I dont have a comment cuz I don't know the intentions of everyone. But I think many are just trying to go to a show and enjoy it as much as the next kid. As far as them "preaching" durring their set or what not. Well its like this, they have issues like anyone else that they hold important and hold view they believe to be true. If another punk band is allowed to write and sing songs about what they believe or not believe or what they feel on political and religious issues then why can't a christian band. I think its a respect thing that as humans we need to grasp. I don't see "christian punks" leaving the room or the building when a band they disagree with come up to play. But yet I see that when a christian band gets up to play. Everyone needs to realize that people have different views and thats ok but are they worth giving your life for. Anyhow I play in Excluded for the Cause and were not a "punk" band cuz I personally don't hold to the atheist and nihlistic views often associated with punk, see if you were to come out to one of our shows I'm not gonna preach at you, but at the same time give us and any other "christian" band the respect that you would want and don't expect us back down from what I believe as the same I wouldn't expect you to. If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything. Stop these petty religious fights and support the music.
