Subject: Eternal Darkness

ETERNAL DARKNESS

In eternal darkness, the blackest of all nights
There’s a scared little boy who shivers in his fright
He’s lost, he’s so far away from home
Unaware, of what in the darkness roams
He says "Mommy, where are you?" but he gets no reply
Reality set in, he knows he will die
He hears a noise, is it in his mind
Paranoid, now he checks what’s behind

Fear led to anger, and that anger it increased
He was doing fine, but then, he gave in to the beast
The beast was his mentor, the darkness was his friend
Inside still a child, longing for the end
Gave into his anger, released it on the world
Assisting the beast, causing his plan to be unfurled
He says "I’ll avenge this whole world will die."
But if you heard his thoughts, you’d only hear him cry

Anger became hatred, he hated everything that was
Destruction imminent, his reason just because
The beast his subordinate molded to his will
All the while plotting, and night continues still
The beast was his servant, the darkness his release
Cold and left for dead, his beating heart has ceased
He murdered the beast, at least that’s one problem solved
But then he became him, so nothing is resolved

Suffering came from hatred, caused by what he has become
Tortured lives were foundation for his kingdom
He has ultimate power but, yet, he’s still alone
Loneliness becomes him, changing all he’s ever known
Did you hear that boy cry? He didn’t sleep that night
Left alone, but why? Longing for the light
Thus he is the second beast, the beast out of the sea
Someone has to be that beast, I thought might as well be me
