A SEA OF SAND

She is a barren tract incapable of supporting life or vegetation a solitude of vast mountain Ranges, forbidden journeys and alkali lands,
Colorful as a rainbow from the purple of her desert sage a wasteland of gypsum dunes, Swimming in a sea of sand.

Feasting is the flame in the depth of the dead dry tide, fueling her fever hot as hells fire, Infernal and rainless as elsewhere,
Our eyes rimmed with gold crossing a lifeless plateau, the desert mounts terrace wise From the shores, breathing the sandy dry air.

Evening winds without season share a daily measure of the scorching sun,
Searching for water on a path where rivers never run,
She is eternal, burning hotter than Hades, in the arms of the Devil’s son.
