Respect


Splitting timber as the veiled woman vomits
each single hammered blow stabbing her soul
as her tears mingle with her stomach contents,
upon the wooden cross her son was nailed.

The blood from his wounds stark against thorns
his tears fall and meet hers as their eyes blend
her insides spilled upon bare seething soil
drowned ants burning acidic dance underfoot.

Just hanging there steeped in warm excrement
as the sun falls in line to keep the blood thin,
if ever there was a time to have faith it was then
I don’t believe in heaven, he obviously did.
