Another Happy Valentine's Day

As if such a thing existed,
Happy Happy, haha.

Love leaves,
love leaves blood on my hands
and no one has ever stayed.

It's a final course
I have learned to navigate
with ease.

The sky is black this morning
at 8:36 and it is going to break
at any moment.
The wind has ceased but I know
it is only the calm before.

Ah, come on, you didn't really expect
happy from me on this day,
did you?
You deceive in more intricate layers
than I've seen.

This day; for children to bring
flowers to their teachers,
candy to their crushes
and a card for the pal
they sit next to in class.

What happened to the day
when it was for lovers?
What happened, indeed
to St. Valentine himself?

Beheaded, beheaded
and knocked to the ground.
"I love you always,
Your Valentine."
