I love LOVE love LOVE love, lurrrrrve Jane Austen. I think this is a safe group to say that to, right? ;-)

So, knowing a little about her real life, and then seeing the preview for the movie, sort of made me feel sad. I just feel like the director/producer/playwrite (whatever) took a LOT of liberty to create a love story, starring Jane Austen to make sure it was a good sell. And I feel like it probably is so LOOSELY based on her life, that it should claim to be fictional.

Having said that, I have to see it. I have to, because I have be ready to have an informed opinion of it, right? But I will try very hard to guard my real feelings about the woman Jane Austen really was, vs. the actress in the movie.

Trepidation is a good word for how I feel.

Now--there is another movie coming out that I have to plug.

"The Jane Austen Bookclub" Do you remember me telling you about the book? Joe's aunt (Karen Fowler) wrote it. It is very good--I mean, it is fun and cute and Jane Austen-ish. It is about a group of women who form a bookclub to read a Jane Austen book each month, and each chapter focuses on a member of the group--and that woman's life loosely resembles a Jane Austen book or character. IT is really fun to read if you're familiar with Jane Austen's books. Plus in the index, there is a short summary of each Jane Austen book, so it can refresh your memory as you go.

Sony Pictures bought the rights to the movie. Now Joe's Aunt is talking about moving to Laguna Beach (lucky!).

The movie is going to be released sometime this fall, I think. But maybe this other Jane Austen movie will affect the dates they decide to release "The Jane Austen Bookclub".

So you definetly have time to read the book first, and it is a quick read. I think it's safe to say you'll enjoy it.

WHAT DO YOU THINK, ELISA? About the "bio" movie?
