Hi everybody,
Okay, so I officially proclaim myself guilty in not keeping in good touch this summer. Really I have no good excuse. I was away for about three weeks, but other than that...
We went to the San Francisco area for a week to visit with Dave's family in July. We hung out with his grandparents in Pleasanton for a few days, went into the city, saw the redwoods, and even spent a few days down at a resort on Monterey Bay. Lovely! I had never been before and had a good time, even though it was in the middle of the heat wave, I was quite pregnant and Dave's grandparents weren't big into air conditioning. I also spent another week and a half hanging out in Chicago with my family, which was fun.
Other than that, I've been at home trying to re-organize my house and make room for a third person in an apartment that already had 3 whole closets. It's amazing the junk you can collect in only 4 years of marriage. I am hoping that I will be finished by the end of the month so I can spend most of October sitting around watching TV waiting for this kid to come. I officially resigned from work this past Tuesday.
The countdown is less than 7 weeks! I was caught off guard on Tuesday, because I had written the countdown on my calendar as a week later than I thought I had, so I went through a minor (okay, semi-major) panic that I am so not ready! I do have an unassembled crib sitting in a box in what is still mostly the office/den/library, but other than that, all I have is baby clothes for NEXT summer that I found on clearance. On the flipside, I'm also thrilled that it's a week less. In the past few days I have started to feel rather, shall we say, squished, and I even start breathing hard when walking ten steps into the next room. I feel like I need an oxygen tank to teach my Sunday school class, though the shy investigators are starting to feel bad for me and are speaking up more, so I guess that's a bonus.
Anyway, that's about it for me. Cleaning and I'm working my way through the works of Jane Austen--half of Northanger Abbey and all of Sense and Sensibility to go. Maybe one of these days I should also pick up a parenting book. :)
Hope you are all well, and I miss you tons! Emily, are you closer to the east coast yet?
Jess
