I hate it when I get attached to an actor (or rather, a character the actor played) and then he does some really stupid and/or R-rated roles. I'm not specifically talking about Christian Bale, though I never saw American Psycho . . .

I just think it's sad that there's a paradigm in the acting world that you have to get naked to prove your worth. I remember last year watching an interview with the Princess Diaries girl, Anne Hathaway, and she was talking about how she was ready to get into more serious drama and in her next movie she was going to have a nude scene. I'm not saying Anne Hathaway is a great actress--it doesn't take much talent to prance around in pretty clothes and act clumsy--but her attitude about needing to do parts where she takes her clothes off to show she's a "real" actress seems to be fairly common.

That's my 2 cents. And by the way, I do love Christian Bale's Laurie in Little Women. I used to get so mad with Jo for not marrying him! Sigh . . . the whole movie is wonderful.
