Although my remodeling project has occasionally been a huge headache, some things about it are really quite fun. Like last night I got to use a drill to put new screws in our kitchen sub-floor so it will stop squeaking. Did you know that back in 1959 when our house was built they used nails because they didn't have screws that worked for wood? So the floors squeak because the wood rubs up and down the nails when you walk on it. Who knew! And since we tore out all the old flooring and exposed the sub-flooring, we can drill screws in along all the floor joists and it stops the squeaking. It's quite satisfying. Plus, there's something very empowering about using a drill. :)

Launa has also been doing remodeling work on her house in Springville and it's hilarious to hear her stories. She's more adventurous at trying things on her own than I am. She said the other day she decided she wanted some cement squares in her backyard so she just bought the stuff, mixed it up and poured it--without any prior experience!
