I think Jake has got a point here. Remember, the Japanese are the people who came up with Marmalade Boy (in the first five minutes of which the main character's parents are like 'OK, dear, we have some great news! We're going to swap partners with some people we just met! Isn't that great! ... uh, try to breathe, dear?) and Dragon Half (which has a SLIME HALF as a character, not to mention that eerily catchy ending -- tooooomatoooo wa dame! )

OK, so when the cat is triggering the allergic fits there'd be sakura blossoms swirling all around...in the middle of winter...indoors. Hmm...and we need a silly song to go along with it. How 'bout that one where the refrain is "Someone left the cake out in the rain"?
